3 Tips On How To Boost Your Immune System
Most people do not like to get sick or to be around sick people as they do not want to catch what the other person has. Many people however, do not realize that unless the disease exposure is highly contagious they can avoid getting sick by ensuring that their immune system is strong. Once the immune system starts to weaken you can be sure the body’s defense mechanisms are not working properly and that is when the disease state takes over in the body. As we age, our immune system starts to decline.
Here are three simple ways to boost your immune system:
1. Cut out refined sugars and processed foods
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Get plenty of sleep
Refined sugars and processed foods
Sugars are known to damage the immune system. As there are no vitamins or minerals in sugar, the adrenal gland does not function properly as it needs B vitamins and minerals to complete the conversion to energy. With the increase in stress to the body, the adrenal glands shut down as a protective mechanism so it can rest and repair.
Drink plenty of water
The body is made up of mostly water and all functions happen at the cellular level. Thus, when depleted or deficient in water, the body will not be able to function as well as it normally would in its most hydrated state. As age increase, the water content of the cell decreases. The need for the water stays the same however for proper function. Water keeps the cells in balance and controls the protein and enzyme function more efficiently. The more the body can keep up with its water needs the better the lymphatic system can function to remove toxins from the body. Water is also needed to flush toxins out of the body.
Get plenty of sleep
During sleep the body heals and repairs. The immune system gets recharged and ready to go again the next day if the body is able to get into the REM sleep to allow the repair and healing process to take place. A lack of sleep inhibits the immune system to function properly during the disease state or wellness state.
